Low Hanging Fruit
This Summer has really pushed me to my limit. Heat. Fires. New animals. Animals passing. Fruit dying on the vine. The list could go on but I am guessing you get the picture. One thing I have learned about life is that it is relentless and that is the best case scenario of a life fully lived. If you are out there working hard to accomplish a goal or pursue your best life then you know what I mean. Some days I go to bed feeling proud and accomplished while other nights I lay there near tears wondering how to make it all work, what the next best choice is, what sort of chaos the new day will bring, and if all the heartache, worry and sacrafice are actually moving me toward my happy place. For a long time this world was full of what a friend once called “low hanging fruit”. Opportunity was available in all places and if you were willing to just do a little extra work anyone could benefit from all the low hanging fruit. Fast forward to 2024 and it seems people want to believe most of the low hanging fruit is gone. Many people seem to have a generalized angst, watching gas and grocery prices soar, and that manifests in all sorts of negative ways. Personally I believe that finding opportunity is more about creating opportunity. There is still plenty of low hanging fruit for those willing to work and sacrafice. A little ingenuity also helps.
People visit Not By Luck Ranch and one of the more popular questions they ask is how? How do you do all the things you do? My response lately is “not well”….lol…but I do my best and I keep trying. Tenacity is everything. We are not a zoo and we do not have a staff. We are a family with big dreams, long lists of goals and a love for animals. We go out every day and pick fruit, quite literally, all the fruit we can…the low hanging fruit, the fruit out of reach and my favorite the fruit hiding waiting to be discovered. We call our fruit business “The House of Jam” because every year the fruit takes over the house. I actually sell jam and hold events celebrating said fruits as yet another cog in the machine that makes this life work. I invite you to see how creative ingenuity turns low hanging fruit into dreams that come true. Visit us at our Blackberry Jam, Sunday, August 18th from 11 am to 3 pm at the Blue Goose Event Center in Loomis, CA. Admission is $5 at the door and proceeds benefit our animal sanctuary efforts. Live music, vendors, jams, pies and good times await!
