All Eggs Go In One Basket
With Summer coming to a close and Fall starting to show itself I look forward to what the new season has to offer. From fairs to fires and building to burning the candle at both ends I have found myself moving in far too many directions. I mentioned my struggle to Captain Mayo, our very own superhero, and he told me that his father tells him to “put all your eggs in one basket, then watch your basket”. Sounds like great advice. The fact is chickens put all their eggs in one nest. In truth a good hen will roll every egg in sight into her nest. In my experience those broody hens do have the most success on hatch day. Perhaps Captain Mayo’s dad as well as the hens know a few things.
As the seasons change I will too, all my eggs are going into one basket. We did, by choice, evacuate animals to insure they were safe during the Dutch and Mosquito fires. I am sorry we had to cancel so many goat walks but safety is our main priority. The hard work of showing at the fair is behind us, until next year, and Blaize took home another belt buckle for his supreme showmanship skills. Denali also made me proud in her grace, poise and kindness at the fair. These past few weeks have pushed me in ways I can’t even explain. They have been trying but also triumphant.
Fall will bring many opportunities for you to visit the animals, from goat walks to Christmas ornament workshops. Tickets are now posted. Spending time in the forest, being creative and enjoying the animals is a real trifecta; I can’t wait to share some peace, joy and fun with you soon!
