Man Made Magic

This fall has been so special around here. Many visitors have described Not By Luck Ranch as magical and that truly warms my soul. My kids and I work hard on every level every day to not only care for our animal friends but to also create new adventures. I have always been a fan of that elusive magical feeling. I have spent most of my adult life chasing, then eventually creating, a life that lends itself to the power of imagination. My animals are my muses. I have found that when ordinary meets unexpected magic often happens. This season has been a whirlwind of alchemy…taking ideas and turning them into activities. Trick or Treat Trail and the Fairy Trail were both a tremendous amount of fun. My hope is that a visit to Not By Luck Ranch is exciting, educational and inspired by the natural world. A real sense of wonder abounds up here amidst the trees, plants and animals. I love this land and these creatures, this is my best life. I have spent decades risking, sacrificing and overcoming to get to this moment in time.

Recently I had to answer to anger and frustration with how I run my business. Why don’t you publish a street address? Why don’t you have a phone number? Why won’t you answer personal questions in front of this group of strangers? Some days my spirit is bruised by the demands of others while other days I can easily remain in a magical mindset. It makes me sad to realize we are living in a world where often the best you can offer is still not enough. My mom raised me to be grateful, say please and thank you, to not be mean and to realize we are all human. Sometimes people, perhaps without realizing, force their wants onto a situation instead of seeking to understand.

My truth is simple. This place is my wonderland and sometimes I share it in ways I feel are aligned with my personal and professional goals. I always do the best I can and I always give as much as I can. But I do have rules and boundaries and I ask for them to be respected. Caring for my kids and my animals will always be my priority. Privacy matters. Time matters. Freedom matters. In this blessed nation we are free to operate our businesses however we prefer. I prefer to not be tied to a phone so I can tend my animals and land. I prefer to manage my privacy by not publishing a street address.

I do however really want my customers to have a great experience, and to that end I have automated everything. I have auto generated confirmations with a link to directions that are emailed once tickets are purchased (that email is sent immediately, so if you are not finding it be sure to check your spam and junk folders). I also have a FAQ section here on this website to provide the information needed to enjoy your visit. I am doing all I can to give the best experience I can, I do hope you understand.

I love my goats so much. The goats trust that I have their best interest at heart. Which I do. Always. So come on up and enjoy some of this nature made animal inspired magic.
