No Money Tree Here
Today I am going to share with you one of my secrets to success. It’s true that I do not have a money tree. Instead of looking for money that grows on trees, I have taught myself how to go out and pick money off the side of the road. Where some people see nothing but weeds I see opportunity. Today was VERY HOT but I MADE THE CHOICE to go out and work toward my goals. I picked blackberries. I have picked blackberries off the side of the road for nearly 15 years. Each July I harvest over 100 pounds of this local black gold. It’s not easy. Blackberry picking is in fact hot, messy, sticky and there are scratches, thorns and ticks to manage. At the end of the day I have turned free time with my kids into a memory made, a solid life lesson and money saved. That money saved adds up over time. I no longer buy jam at the store. I make my own. Over 10 years of not buying jam added up to thousands of dollars. I fancy myself an alchemist of sorts, and though I have no money tree, I did turn blackberries into goats :)
